New Moon in Sagittarius
On darkness, direction, and quiet renewal.
This new moon feels different from others. In Sagittarius, this new moon speaks to our sense of meaning… the beliefs we live by, the truths we follow, and the direction we trust ourselves to move toward.
Taking place on Dec 19 at 8:43pm ET, this is only two days prior to the Winter Solstice.
The skies are the darkest right now that they will be for the whole year…
For many, this darkness could mirror an inner landscape - one shaped by grief, loneliness, fatigue, or the quiet weight the holidays can carry.
The moon is in the darkest phase and the sun is, too. Both of them in their dwindled light and their quiet, restorative energy.
And yet, in the point where they have the most potential… for we know this is the part of the cycle where the tables turn. The part that builds, starts to slowly shine, starts to carry momentum. This is where hope lives - not as a promise of instant light, but as a trust in the cycle itself, and in the knowing that growth begins long before it becomes visible.
This new moon is a time of finding our direction and pointing the arrow to aim, even if we can’t quite see what’s on the other side of it all. Even if we can’t quite see our shot perfectly…
We can pull back our arrow with precision and aim, feeling the tautness of the bow string as we line our eye up with the horizon, and then… we let the arrow soar.
With Venus and Mars closely tied into this new moon, the direction we choose now is meant to be guided not just by ambition, but by what we love, value, and feel genuinely moved to pursue.
This new moon is asking us where we desire to have truths be known? Where does our heart dream to have our arrows land and our adventures take place? Where are we ideally seeking out growth in our lives and expansion in our perspectives based on what is important to us?
And not in a way that sets our sights on possibility alone… or that clouds us with a false sense of disillusionment, but with the understanding that it requires participation from us. For us to recognize that for dreams to come true and ideals to become reality, we’re asked to work with structure and embrace discipline to contain us and steer us on our paths. With Neptune and Saturn in the mix, structure isn’t meant to stifle inspiration, but to give our visions something solid to land on and grow within… to sustain them.
This is also the last new moon of 2025 marking another significant phase of renewal. In some ways, this new moon is helping to set the trajectory for 2026, asking us to take time to think about what this next calendar year could look like for us. Rather than demanding answers, this new moon simply asks us to choose an honest, heart-centered and valued-led direction, one we’re willing to tend slowly as 2026 unfolds.
Some things to think about…
Where in my life am I being asked to choose a direction… not because I have all the answers, but because I’m ready to move with a little more honesty and intention?
What dream or possibility feels worth tending right now, even if it asks for patience, structure, or small, consistent steps?
In this darker season of the year, what helps me stay connected to a quiet sense of hope, meaning, or faith… even in subtle or imperfect ways?
May whatever you set in motion now… wherever your intentions roam… maybe they be guided by honesty, values, and the courage to aim your arrow toward the horizons that call to you. ✨
